Model Overview

The Lexus LM is the flagship luxury MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) from LEXUS, built on Toyota's TNGA GA-K platform. Making its global debut at Auto Shanghai in April 2019 as the brand's first-ever luxury MPV, it was primarily targeted at China and selected Asian markets. In April 2023, the second-generation LM made its world premiere at Auto Shanghai. As of 2026, the domestic 2026 LM lineup is offered in three variants: the LM 350h 7-seater Elegant (RM1,199,000), LM 500h 6-seater Executive (RM1,250,000), and LM 500h 4-seater Emperor (RM1,550,000). Positioned for top-tier executive and private chauffeur transport, it measures 5,125 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,940 mm (1,955 mm) in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase.

Design Language

The second-generation LM adopts LEXUS's latest electrified design philosophy, replacing the conventional spindle grille with a seamless, body-coloured "Spindle Body" front fascia. Up front, it features triple-beam LED headlights with signature L-shaped daytime running lights, while the rear is adorned with full-width LED taillights and central LEXUS script badging. Its side profile showcases elegant lines complemented by a floating roof design and 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, exuding a stately presence. Inside, the front cabin embraces the "Tazuna Cockpit" concept, centering all operational controls around the driver. The cabin is trimmed with premium leather, authentic wood inserts, and meticulous contrast stitching, complemented by oriental-inspired decorative trims such as the Yabane (arrow feather) woodgrain pattern and ink-wash reddish accents.

Powertrain & Performance

The Lexus LM range is exclusively powered by hybrid powertrains with all-wheel drive equipped as standard. The LM 350h pairs a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated engine (A25B-FXS) with an electric motor, with the petrol engine producing 140 kW (190 PS) and the electric motor generating 174 kW, yielding a total system output of 184 kW (approx. 250 PS). Power is delivered via an E-CVT (Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission). Meanwhile, the LM 500h features a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine (T24A-FTS) paired with an electric motor; the engine outputs 199 kW (271 PS) and 460 Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 139 kW and 391 Nm, producing a combined output of 270 kW (approx. 367 PS). This is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel consumption on the WLTC cycle is rated at 6.16 L/100 km for the LM 350h and 7.86 L/100 km for the LM 500h. Top speed is rated at 180 km/h for the LM 350h and 185 km/h for the LM 500h.

Chassis & Handling

Under the skin, the LM uses a front-engine, all-wheel-drive architecture with front MacPherson struts and rear double wishbone independent suspension, assisted by Electric Power Steering (EPS). The LM 350h employs the E-Four electric AWD system, whereas the LM 500h features the DIRECT4 electronic dynamic AWD system. Underpinned by the GA-K platform, torsional rigidity is increased by 50% over its predecessor, with extensive structural bracing reinforcing the body for superior dynamic stability. It also comes equipped with Braking Posture Control to counter body pitch during acceleration and braking. Additionally, a dedicated "Rear Comfort" drive mode adjusts the rear adaptive damper settings to deliver an impeccably plush ride for rear occupants.

Cabin & Features

Cabin appointments vary depending on the seating configuration, with 4-seater, 6-seater, and 7-seater layouts available across the range. The range-topping 4-seater Emperor variant features an electrically retractable glass partition between the front and rear compartments, complete with dimmable privacy glass. The rear passenger lounge is equipped with an ultra-wide 48-inch display for infotainment and video conferencing. Passenger comfort is headlined by individual Ottoman executive seats featuring massage functions, powered leg rests, and cushion tilt adjustments; ceiling-mounted infrared matrix sensors automatically detect occupant body temperatures to regulate climate and seat heating; a built-in refrigerated cooler box is also integrated. The 6-seater and 7-seater models feature a 14-inch roof-mounted rear monitor alongside a walk-through centre aisle. Across the entire range, standard equipment includes a Mark Levinson premium surround sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, and the nanoe™X air purification system. Up front, drivers get a 12.3-inch or 14-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with smartphone connectivity and navigation support.

Safety & Driver Assistance

All variants come standard with the latest Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 (LSS+ 3.0) suite. This includes the Pre-Collision System (PCS), all-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Lane Change Assist (LCA). It also adds Safe Exit Assist (SEA) to warn occupants of approaching vehicles or cyclists when opening doors. For automated parking, the vehicle features the Advanced Park system with Remote Park capabilities. In terms of passive safety, the rigid, lightweight structure is complemented by a comprehensive multi-airbag system and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Market Performance & Verdict

Since its inception, the Lexus LM has commanded an unrivalled standing in the ultra-luxury MPV segment, effectively facing no direct rivals in the market. Its immense appeal stems from the peerless rear-cabin luxury experience and brand prestige, keeping high-net-worth buyers eager despite hefty dealer premiums. As an annual model refresh, the 2026 LM receives added damping and sound-deadening insulation across various body sections for class-leading NVH quietness, alongside subtle updates to the auto-dimming rearview mirror, instrument cluster graphics, and overhead console controls. In the pinnacle luxury MPV segment, the LM continues to stamp its authority as the benchmark chauffeur-driven flagship, bolstered by LEXUS craftsmanship, opulent passenger appointments, and distinct oriental design aesthetics.
